Feature Project

Sustainability House was recently commissioned by the Commonwealth Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency (DCCEE) to undertake two related studies into ways to cost-effectively improve the energy efficiency of new residential building designs in all capital cities in Australia. This research will contribute to the development of the National Building Energy Standard-Setting, Assessment and Rating Framework and will direct future energy efficiency standards and building assessment and rating processes. The study aimed to redesign plans of high volume residential builders to:

• Part 1 - Cost-effectively achieve 6 stars;
• Part 2 - Improve energy efficiency beyond 6 stars for no additional cost.
